Welcome back to the start of a great new school year.  I’m looking forward to a great year.

Ron and I have gone through your classrooms this summer inventorying items, setting up computers and setting up your television carts.  All of the television/DVD-VCR setups in your classrooms are hooked up and working properly.  We have replaced some of the DVD players that weren’t working and we tried to make sure everyone had a remote for their TV and DVD players.  We hope this helps you as you get started.I will be sending out more information as we begin next week, but I wanted to welcome you all back and let you know I’m looking forward to a great year.

Sixth Grade Teachers: Help your kids think critically & understand ads

Are you looking for a great lesson for your research classes?  Try Admongo.gov from the Federal Trade Commission.  Admongo helps kids learn to ask themselves questions when they see advertising.  It helps them think critically about ads as well as non-commercial messages like news stories and literature.  It is a free curriculum that meets national standards for language arts and social studies.  Watch the video below to learn more.  I have ordered the curriculum for all of our sixth grade teachers, bookmarks for the media center and I’ve ordered their advertising campaign posters for all of our teachers.

Property Control

Property Control Survey

The first three to complete their property control survey will receive a free audio book for your classroom. I have Ninth Grade Slays by Heather Brewer, Vet Volunteer 3 stories in one by Laurie Halse Anderson and Will Grayson by John Green and David Leviathan. Everyone who completes their form by Monday morning will receive a small gift on Monday.
